DIY Lace Flowers
DIY – Vintage Lace Flowers
The best part about DIY projects is gathering family and friends together to help add their own touch to your event. We are big believers in DIY when it comes to crafting your own centerpieces, favors, and other décor that might otherwise cost more than you’re willing to spend. These adorable lace flowers look incredibly soft, elegant, and can be so versatile! So, gather your closest friends, whip up your favorite cocktails, and let’s rock out this quick and fun DIY!
Step 1: Pile up the Lace.
Here’s what you’ll need:
*Lace or other textured ribbon
*Needle and Thread
*Glue Gun + Glue Sticks
*Buttons, Broaches, Pearls, or other items to decorate your finished product
Step 2: Ruffle Your Feathers. I mean, Your Lace. Well, you could use Feathers too!
Using a needle and thread, weave the needle along the edge of the lace that you want to be the “inside” of the flower. Pull the thread taught to create a ruffle. Sew the ends of the strand together to form a complete circle in the center of your flower.
Step 3: Layer it on!
Hot glue a piece of felt to the back of your first layer so your smaller layers have something to adhere to. Keep ruffling and hot gluing until you have the desired fullness in the petals.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Here, we hot glued a muted pink button to the center of our lace flower for an extra feminine look. You can add whatever you like to the center of the flower to customize your own.
On the flower below, we gathered a ruffle ribbon to make this textured “poofy” center.
Find ways to give your flowers character. We added some strands of pearls, then secured it with another layer of felt on the back side.
Use your DIY flowers to decorate whatever and however you like! Here, we have attached them to glass vases to create a vintage-inspired centerpiece for baby Gianna’s Baptism celebration.
